Miss Universe Bahamas ("MUB", "we", "us") operates the official national pageant of The Bahamas and this website, mubahamas.com. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it.
Application information. When you apply to compete, we collect the information you provide in the application form: your name, date of birth, contact details (email, phone, address), island of residence, citizenship status, education and occupation details, community involvement, platform statement, your typed signature, and the documents you upload (headshot photograph, government-issued identification, and proof of citizenship).
Health and disclosure information. The application includes optional-to-elaborate health questions: whether you have any mental, emotional, or physical health conditions or disabilities, whether you take related medication, and your medical insurance details. This information is collected solely to ensure your safety, wellbeing, and appropriate support during the ten-week program. It is treated as strictly confidential, accessible only to authorized MUB administrators, and is never used as an automatic basis for rejecting an application. We also ask whether you are familiar with anyone on the MUB committee, solely to ensure fairness in the selection process.
Voting and notification interest. If you register interest in voting, we collect your email address, your selected contestant, and your intended number of votes.
Newsletter signups. If you subscribe to updates, we collect your email address.
Browser storage. To make the application easier to complete, your in-progress answers are saved locally in your own browser (not on our servers) so you can leave and resume. This data stays on your device and is deleted when you submit your application or choose "Start over." We also store your cookie consent choice locally.
We use application information solely to administer the Miss Universe Bahamas competition: reviewing applications, verifying eligibility, contacting applicants about their status, and organizing the program. We use email addresses to send application confirmations, competition updates, and — where you have registered voting interest — a notification when voting opens. With your consent given during the application, contestant photographs may be used for promotional purposes connected to the pageant.
Application data and uploaded documents are stored securely with our infrastructure providers. Uploaded identity documents are held in private storage accessible only to authorized MUB administrators — they are never publicly accessible. Transactional emails (such as application confirmations) are delivered through a third-party email service provider.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share applicant identity documents with third parties except where required for competition verification or by law. We do not use your information for advertising unrelated to Miss Universe Bahamas.
You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (subject to any records we are required to keep). To make a request, contact us at the address below. If you withdraw your application, we will delete your application data and uploaded documents upon request.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
